By definition, a French door is a double door, but it’s important not to confuse the two. The key difference is design. Whereas a standard double door may be made of a mixture of materials with minimal glazing, French doors have larger panes and may be more aesthetically pleasing.

Every double door at Atlas conforms to the highest standards you’d expect – a single, thermally broken aluminium frame and double or triple glazing. Security is also paramount, with multi-lock systems to prevent intrusion.

Our steel look aluminium French doors have a max height of 2400mm and width of 1100mm, with a max weight of 100kg. They are available with 28mm double glazing or 40mm triple glazing, offering a U value of up to 1.1w/m2k.

The Alitherm 400 double door range has a lifespan of 30 to 40 years thanks to superior, thermally broken aluminium frames and sturdy double or triple glazing. Each has been rigorously tested for air, wind and water, even in coastal locations, with multi-lock systems and optional security upgrades.

If you’re looking for value for money, you should always choose an aluminium double glazed door as a minimum. Our Alitherm range offers both double and triple glazing, promoting energy efficiency and durability, even in extreme weather.

While uPVC French doors are cheaper, they do not last as long and need to be maintained more often. There’s no need to worry about insulation either – uPVC is naturally insulative but our frames have thermal break technology, creating a barrier between hot and cold air.

For a durable, aesthetically pleasing and secure design, aluminium French doors are always best.
