Meeting UK Building Regulations

We are committed to ensuring all products comply with current UK Building Regulations. Below is a summary of how our systems meet the requirements of Part L (Thermal Efficiency) and Part F (Ventilation).

THERMAL EFFICIENCY (PART L)

Our entire product range complies when used in conjunction with the correct glass specifications, delivering energy ratings for renovations when installed with a double-glazed unit that has a U-value of 1.2 W/m²K and a solar gain of 0.71 or better, using an Edgetech Super Spacer Bar or equivalent.

All our Casement Windows achieve an ‘A’-rating if the aforementioned glass unit is upgraded to low-iron glass.

The thermal efficiency of the Atlas Aluminium range can be enhanced further by using higher performance double-glazed or triple-glazed units.

The addition of low-iron glass will not improve U Values but will improve WER/DSER rating due to solar gain.

The addition of triple glazing will improve U Values but due to reduced solar gain has limited effect on WER/DSER ratings.

The new TTF Slimline is a through-frame trickle ventilator that is a robust, yet attractive aluminium ventilator. With its built-in updraught and various operating modes, the TTF Slimline is a stylish and effective product that perfectly complements our profiles.

Answers to common questions about how our products are designed in line with UK legislation

Part L focuses on thermal efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Our systems can achieve compliant U-values when paired with the correct double or triple glazing specifications. We also support upgrades such as low-iron glass and enhanced spacer bars to help meet renovation and new-build requirements.

Triple glazing improves U-values (thermal insulation). However, reduced solar gain may limit improvements in WER/DSER ratings. The best option depends on your project requirements and SAP calculations.

WER (Window Energy Rating) and DSER (Door Set Energy Rating) measure the overall energy performance of a window or door, including solar gain and air leakage, not just U-value. These ratings are important for compliance and energy efficiency assessments.

Part F covers ventilation requirements to ensure healthy indoor air quality. It ensures properties have adequate airflow to prevent condensation, damp, and poor air quality.
